“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom”. Anais Nin
When something of such magnitude happens, it becomes a matter of extremes. At some point, it is either a matter of curling up and dying yourself or allowing your heart to fill with love and deciding to live every moment with gratitude. For us, there was nothing in between. The first wasn’t an option because we wanted Oliver’s legacy to be one of joy. All the joy we had discovering him, the idea of him and the actuality of him. It engenders a kind of fearlessness. Our grief has taught us that even in the darkest moments, the most unfathomable depths of pain and despair, beauty can be found. Life, even at its most fragile, clings onto all those aching places until we realise that we really have no choice but to seize hold of it with both hands. To take as much beauty as we can from each moment. And to love with every fibre of our warrior hearts.
