About

There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in ~ Ernest Hemingway

This collection of writing is about grief, hope and love. It is for Oliver. A little boy who lived for 3 days, who changed us irrevocably and who is loved very very much. For us, it all comes back to love. The counterpart to grief and the momentum that drives us to each next moment.

This is also for newly bereaved parents, their families and friends. It is for you that I write “clear and hard about what hurts”. To add my voice to those that helped me at a time when I needed it the most. Our stories are not all alike but they have the power to say you are not alone and most importantly, you will be ok. Have patience and be kind to yourself, you are doing the best you can.

Crossing the rubicon has propelled us to another level, slightly separated from others understanding. It is not a level we asked for but we are here nonetheless. Perhaps we have been given a gift of knowing these extra colours to life, the dark as well as the light, and we must do the best we can with it in any given moment.
